SoReMo Spring2026Abstract
This editorial introduces Volume 6, Issue 1 of the SoReMo Reports, featuring six projects completed by Spring 2026 SoReMo Fellows at Illinois Institute of Technology. The Fellows tackled problems spanning electoral equity, environmental justice, community safety, urban forestry, nonprofit operations, and arts programming. Projects include a computational framework for Voting Rights Act analysis, an optimization model for a food pantry's volunteer operations, a platform formalizing community tolerance thresholds for AI data center expansion, an investigation of urban forest species composition and neighborhood health equity, a safety navigation tool for women in Chicago, and a schedule optimization model for a dance school. Across these diverse methods and settings, the work shares a common orientation: staying accountable to the communities it is meant to serve.
